Hi Annemarie!

Firstly apologies for the later replay - I saw this a few days ago and completely forgot to come back to it!

Stomach acidity test:

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in water (about 3/4 cup) and drink on an empty stomach, 1st thing in the morning, before eating or drinking. If you have sufficient levels of stomach acid, the bicarb will be converted into carbon dioxide gas, which should cause belching within less than 5 mins. If you have not belched within 5 mins, stop timing. If you have enough stomach acid, belching should occur within 2-3 minutes. Early and repeated belches might be due to excessive stomach acid, but that also could be due to swallowing air when drinking the solution (this sort of belching tends to be smaller belches). If ‘normal’ belching doesn’t occur until 3 minutes, stomach acid is low.

RESULTS: start burping straight away means too acidic in stomach. Normal is about a minute or 2. No burp is low acid.

Hope that helps - let us know how you go x
